Beaucoup de petites choses…
As we watched in horror the events that unfolded in Haïti following the earthquake, we were reminded of the words on the back of our tee-shirts: Beaucoup de petites choses, par beaucoup de petites gens, en beaucoup de petits lieux, peuvent transformer la face du monde. (Many little things, by many little people, in many little places, can transform the face of the planet) We were quick to act. Instead of buying ready-made chocolate roses for our Valentine’s Day sale, we decided to make them – almost tripling the profit that we could make. Our profits will be donated to relief efforts. In addition, we remain committed to reaching our goal of $2500 to Paige’s Butterfly Run – now less than $200 away. Spring will be here soon and we are assisting the American Cancer Society with the daffodil sale at Baker High School. Last year, we raised $1000, and we are delighted to be able to help them again.
In addition to our fundraising efforts, we continue to plan wonderful activities for our members, celebrating Mardi Gras next month and preparing for our March trip to the province of Québec! In March we will be hosting a Québécoise singer at a Saturday concert, and in April, we will be sponsoring a “French Night with the Syracuse Crunch” with the chance to meet and speak with the French-speaking players. All are welcome to join us.
As they say in Québec – ça va être MALADE!
